On today’s Disney podcast, we are talking about the announcement from Disneyland Paris that they are moving to a paid Fastpass system called Disney Premier Access. While a paid Fastpass system has been anticipated by many people, this announcement made a lot of Disney fans pretty upset and questioning the implications this might have on the US parks. These are our reactions and thoughts about what will happen in Walt Disney World.

The reason this has so much buzz is for MANY reasons … SO MUCH is being changed in a short period of time! You pay for resort parking, free perks such as Magic Bands & at by year end, the Magical Express will be replaced by Mears Connect (will probably end up charging guests for Airport Service), your luggage used to be taken care of at the Airport & delivered to your room or held until you room was ready. If you would like a free luggage tag you must now go to the front desk & ask, they are not mailed. We now have a shorter 60 day window time frame to make Dinner Reservations. Extra Magic hours are now only 30 min. before park opening for resort guests each day & Park hours have been drastically cut and now possible paid FP’s? Yesterday they announced Stacey will no longer be with us…. we loved having her on TV while puttering around the room & getting ready for the day or preparing for the following day. Now we have to have our heads in our phones to find out all the info! It just seems like all the fun & memorable perks are being tossed aside one by one… We are going to Disney soon…. We will go with a positive attitude, as you do make your own fun, but ultimately when we come home I am sure we will discuss what we missed the most from prior years …. I am hoping how they are running the parks/resorts/events/diningcetc. presently will keep the Disney Magic ALIVE and we will want to return!
Hey Laurel,
You’re 100% correct, there is a ton of change! You’re also correct that they way you view these changes and adapt to them will absolutely set you up to have a magical time or not. I hope you are able to still find the magic even with all the changes that have occurred and will keep happening into the future. Thanks for listening and have the best time on your trip!
